If you've never read Michael Crichton's Airframe, I strongly suggest it. It concerns a deadly incident aboard a plane, and the main villain is a sensationalist media program trying to smear the airplane manufacturer. Though written in the 90s, it's still exactly on point and touches on a lot of the themes mentioned here.
