A mother of an acne patient said to me today,
“Thank you for taking the time to explain that to me. That helps a lot.”
Moments like that are why I love dermatology and being a doctor. Those moments make it all worth it.
I feel a real responsibility to help people understand their skin—whether that means lifestyle changes, prescriptions, or sometimes even a scalpel. When people understand what’s happening, confidence grows and decisions get easier. That’s what keeps me coming back every day.
The challenge, of course, is that an exam room conversation only goes so far.
Because of that, I’ve written a few short acne books for patients:
- for parents of teenagers struggling with acne
- for adults dealing with acne later in life
- and for anyone trying to understand Accutane without fear
For now, I’m making these available free.
Not because they lack value, but because understanding should come first. If this helps even one teenager feel more confident or one parent feel less anxious, that’s worth it to me.
If they’re helpful, I’ll continue refining and expanding them over time.
