Women may be regarded as having two conflicting impulses toward any male. The first impulse is to dominate him to see if he can be pushed around. If he can be, then he may be used and useful, but will not be looked up to and therefore will not be a suitable sexual partner. If he resists being dominated, then he may not be liked in the same way as the weaker man, but he is more apt to be respected and therefore more sexually suitable.
