Experimenting with a dip pen and ink that I forgot I had, and it's really wonderful to realise how delicate and free my mark making has become. A year ago, I would have pressed so hard I would have broken the nib because that's what I was taught - you always have to try harder, and for the best part of my life, I took that literally. I put so much tension and physical force into everything I did, that I was not only damaging my tools, but my body as well.
And I think that's the most important lesson I've learned from becoming an artist: how to soften.
