Good morning, Substack Community.

“Collective Mappery”

This is an open and ongoing invitation to you to create your own map along with me every fortnight. We can share our maps here in Notes or via published posts. (See below for more details)

The voting for the next prompt is leaning towards Option Two, but this could change. Here are the current prompts up for voting:

  1. Option One - I document one of my regular commutes or journeys

  2. Option Two - I use my free downloadable zine to record my own “A Day With …”

[If you want to influence the way the vote goes, head to the poll in the post below. Its open until Friday 29th September]

I really want to build a community here around mapping. My aim is inspire myself and others to tell our stories visually, to create a legacy of visual memoirs for ourselves and our families. To slow down and remember our lives. Oh, and have some fun too.

How the collective mappery could work:

  1. I publicise the final prompt here on Notes on Friday 29th September, as voted by readers

  2. The next Personal Atlas post comes out on Sunday 8th October, when I will share my own hand map map

  3. You can share yours with me beforehand and I will link to it in my post, or you can share yours and link back to my post

It’s that simple!

Who’s with me? Leave me a comment if you’re as excited by this as I am!

"One of most satisfying and fun ways to connect the dots looking backwards is by mapping a ‘how I got here’ journey. They can be used to record only the most key life events, or any other smaller journey you have made."
