Should I just dedicate an entire essay to explaining the premise behind the 2007scape map rework?

The basic idea is that there shouldn’t be any area of the game that you go to one time, for one skill, or one quest. Every area of the game should be filled with a diverse array of features. No area should feel like “filler,” but each should be filled with deep lore and utility.

Broadly speaking, the game world is divided into six areas:

  1. Asgarnia: West of the River Lum and the Kharidian Desert. Starting point and safest area.

  2. Misthalin: East of the River Lum and west of the River Baxtorian. Contains most major cities.

  3. Kandarin: East of the River Baxtorian and West of Ice Mountain. Dangerous, including wolves, trolls, and the Plague City.

PVP Zones:

  1. Wilderness: North-east of Ice Mountain. Lava, zombies, skeletons. Can be reached by traversing Trollheim.

  2. Morytania: East of the River Salve. Werewolves, vampires, ghasts, and swamp. Can be reached via underground tunnels or ship.

  3. Kharidian Desert: South of Varrock. Can be reached via the Kharidian Gate.

  4. Karamja. Accessible by boat.
