Your electricity bill is about to soar. Thank the tech bros and the president and all the other little politicians that that they purchased in order to allow the construction of their datacenters. It’s easy to blame Trump for this because he’s so clearly in their pocket. But remember it’s the local politicians that allow the construction of these things. It’s almost certain that a large driver of the stunning local electoral results in Georgia stemmed from this.

It’s important to understand what these datacenters are. They’re pure rent-seeking. Think of them as a tax. But you don’t get anything for it.

The tech bros pay your local politicians to build data centers in your community. You then subsidize the enormous electricity demand. That is why your electricity bills are soaring. But all of the benefit accrues to the tech bros who own the stock of the company. All you get is a higher electric bill while the stock of the company reaches for the moon
