If Democratic leaders don’t start listening more to the many party dissidents who’ve been warning them for years that the woke turn would prove disastrous, they’ll be running a real risk of allowing authoritarian knuckle-draggers to destroy American democracy. In that case, they would also force many of us to look to an independent force to save our democracy from Trumper demagogues.
