Today’s Fun Fact is brought to you by one of my favorite Dracula conversation topics, “How Dracula Became a Vampire” which I was most recently disucussing with Ryan C. - Vampire Slayer.

Before beginning my Dracula studies, I thought the Vampire King was a chosen one situation, maybe. Dracula was selected to be the first, or some jazz. Oh, no. Not our boy, Count Dracula.

According to Van Helsing, Dracula “dared to attend the Scholomance” and he “learned his (the Evil One’s) secrets in the Scholomance, amongst the mountains over Lake Hermanstadt, where the devil claims the tenth scholar as his due”

To me, this makes it likely that Dracula sought out the Devil, convinced him to take him as a student, and then was likely claimed as the tenth scholar.

Why bother waiting around to be “chosen?” Sounds dull.
