Historical figures mentioned in my article 58

King Xian of Zhou周显王, personal name Ji Bian姬扁, was the ruler of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, reigning from 369 to 321 BC for a total of 48 years.

In the second year of his reign (367 BC), he enfeoffed Prince Gen of Zhou公子根 with the last remaining royal domain in the region of Gong巩, establishing the State of Eastern Zhou(367-249BC, a minor feudal state established during the late Eastern Zhou Dynasty when the royal domain was partitioned). This left the Zhou king with only the palace, effectively making him a dependent of the Eastern Zhou state.

During his reign, several pivotal events occurred:

· In 356 BC (13th year of his reign), the State of Qin秦 implemented the reforms of Shang Yang商鞅.

· In 353 BC (16th year of his reign), the Battle of Guiling桂陵 took place.

· In 341 BC (28th year of his reign), the Battle of Maling马陵 occurred.
