Being a fund manager is the most thankless job in finance. You manage other people’s wealth while the market happens to dictate their investment decisions. If the market tanks, some of your clients will dump their stocks in panic, and you’ll have to fulfill their redemption demands and possibly sell at a loss. Even though the clients triggered the exit, you’re the one who made the loss. You have all the responsibility but almost no control, and you’ll be blamed for your clients’ losses.
