Thucydides was the author of the History of the Peloponnesian War AND a general for the Athenians. He embodied the quote in his life to the point that his reputation as a general AND scholar preceded him. This is evidenced by an episode where a Spartan general, Brasidas heard of his advice being sought by Amphipolis, and Brasidas immediately seeking moderate terms.
Be more like Thucydides and excel as a generalist.
