Secret moment of unexpected joy:

Where I do early morning writing looks over a small park. This morning, a little girl was following her mum up the foot path that runs alongside it. In mid-step she paused and started to do “sevens and threes”—the footwork in Irish set (céili) dancing. After doing this little “jig,” she broke into a trot to catch up with her mum.

Am sure she thought no one was watching. I was—and for me, it was a moment of pure delight—a bit of draíocht.

You never know what ripples you create—when you think no one sees you, you may be having far more impact than you’d think. So keep dancing.
