Bulgaria quietly launches new Digital Nomad VisaπŸ‡§πŸ‡¬

From Bansko to Burgas and back to Sofia, this EU country is a gem πŸ’Ž

Very few other places offer mountains and beach within easy reach!

<Quietly, with little fanfare (maybe because Bulgaria is ALREADY a nomad-hub), this nomad visa was launched in recent weeks! >

If you are looking for next remote-work base in Europe?

Bulgaria should be high on the list!

In 2025 Bulgaria also switched to the euro and joined the Schengen Zone β€” a group of 29 European countries with open borders.

Nomad Visa Conditions:

βœ… To apply for the digital nomad visa, applicants must be non-EU/EEA citizens who work remotely and earn an income outside of Bulgaria.

Also, fall into one of these 3 categories

1. Freelancers or independent contractors providing services to non-Bulgarian clients for at least one year before applying.

2. Remote employees of companies registered outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland.

3. Company owners or those holding more than 25% of a business registered abroad.

Plus, on income:

βœ… Applicants need to show proof of an annual income of at least 50 times the Bulgarian monthly minimum wage, 620 euros or $723 USD, or at least 31,000 euros or $36,168 USD a year.πŸ€‘

This eastern country has a lower cost of living than it's western Europe neighbours, so the income requirement buys more local purchasing power than in Spain or Portugal.

πŸ’“ Finally, another HUGE advantage is the remote work/nomad communities already established in Bulgaria, first-hand I have experienced Bansko, Burgas and Sofia and can highly recommend.

Get Bulgaria on your research list, you won't be disappointed πŸ’―
