Our family understands this history because our grandfather, the Supt. of schools in Round Rock, Texas was forced to resign or be fired in 1957 because he proposed the integration of the schools. He refused to resign, was fired. There were death threats, the loved family cat was hung from a front yard tree lynch style. The sad thing about this story today is that in the information about O. F. ( Floyd) Perry in the History of the Round Rock public schools, the article mentions nothing about integration. It only mentions that Mr. Perry had proposed building more classrooms and a bond had been passed for the money causing an increase in taxes for landowners!
