We may be seeing the fruits of such institutionalized cooperation today, with Chinese party-state media laundering, echoing, and amplifying Iranian talking points, something I and others have documented in detail since Iran’s crackdown on protests that killed tens of thousands.

And this does not even include China’s central role in building the backbone of Iran’s authoritarian technological infrastructure of repression: cameras (which Israel reportedly hacked, FTW), drones, telecom systems, internet control, and more.
