I have known Bishop Piche personally and found him to be a holy man. I don't know all of what happened during the difficult years under Archbishop Nienstedt, and I find it difficult to believe Bp. Piche would have turned a blind eye to abuse. Regardless, if Abp. Hebda has discerned this role for him will be salutary for the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis, I praise God to know Bishop Piche will be exercising ministry publicly again, and putting the holiness God has given him to good use. I pray he is helpful to the retired priests, and is able to continue to bring restoration and healing to victims.
