Don’t really see how technology is the answer here. This is a problem that could’ve been solved with technology that exists in the department (basic time tracking)
The problem is police unions and nonfunctioning accountability systems. BTW, Body cameras didn’t fix police violence. Police are deadlier than ever.
The correct synthesis of the late 10s and early 20s continues to be that we need higher-quality policing. We need more good police work and less paperwork. More care and control but less corruption. Body cameras were a good move in this direction, and I hope we embrace more tech (speed cameras, for example).
