I spent the day in Hell, aka the Italian Questura.

I have a permanent stay visa, as I am married to an Italian. A couple of years ago, they started issuing a plastic card version that was for the EU. I never got one, I hadn’t been staying on top of the details. I signed up to get one in 2024 and my appointment to get fingerprinted was for today.

I did get an appointment online, for 10:45 and decided to go to Florence last night to arrive early without stress.

The appointment simply meant no standing in line outside timo get a number, but when I walked in was given my number 148. They were at 31.

The offices closed from 2-3. At 2, I still hadn’t been seen. Came back at 3, and had a short wait, only to be told they didn’t need my fingerprints or the on-site foto. They took one of the 4 I brought with me.

Jesus.

Now to wait for a notice to pick up my card. I hear it might be 4 months. At least it’s at a different office.
