I just had a conversation with the husband of a friend of mine. It was a real eye opener, and a depressing insight into the minds of so many people in the world today.

It turns out he trusts most politicians, thinks most of them are honest, well intentioned good people, that what was done during COVID was the right thing, that yes some mistakes were made but the inquiries will unearth those and improve things next time, that while there was some corruption the guilty will face prison time, and that democracy works.

I need to go lie down now I'm exhausted after that chat.
