Rough map I made to visualize the situation in early June. Filled in areas represent controlled territory: large amount of fortified checkpoints, patrols, and most importantly negligible to zero enemy presence.
Diagonal lines show who currently dominates a disputed area in question. During early stages of the war, the Donbas was trapped in a limbo of physical and bureaucratic chaos, essentially rendering most parts of it stateless.
