I can't fathom that this event could happen in the US.
My emotional turmoil of what is possible in the world but seemingly impossible for the US, lead me to a silly joke. "He was just an ordinary farmer, but he was out standing in his field" The joke is two words, 'out standing', or one word, 'outstanding'.
The US is outstanding. The US is not ordinary. The US is the essential nation not an ordinary nation standing on the ground. The US is above the ground. Not realizing that it isn't grounded, it has instead engaged in military efforts to maintain its wealth. Meanwhile, there is rot on the home front.
Maybe the arrogance in the world and rot at home are two sides of the same coin.
