One thought that occurred to me today is that Republicans and Trump et al want to distract us from the Fall 2025 elections in CA, NJ, PA and VA because they know if we are distracted - we are not putting our energy into winning these absolutely critical elections (Prop 50, Gov/SOS/AG, 3 PA SCt seats!!!). And none of these states are a slam dunk at all. But here's the amazing thing student organizers across the country are not freaking out or doom-scrolling - they are registering voters and mobilizing them to vote.

🍩🗳️ Our org - Donuts + Democracy - (all volunteers btw) is working with super motivated student organizers in all of these states on college campuses. They are doing the hard work to GOTV. We provide them donuts, banners and other cool stuff to help them engage, register, educate and mobilize college students. (As a serious person and a lawyer, it's a bit surprising that donuts are so effective but after 10 years of organizing - there is literally not a more cost-effective strategy for mobilizing college students. )

🙌We have already hosted 50+ voter reg/GOTV events and have 60+ to go with a heavy lift in CA for Prop 50 (it's a huge state!).

💰 We have raised enough to cover 50 events and need to raise another $20K to cover the remaining events. Students need us, are signing up to host every day, and to be honest, the Dem Party doesn’t give any financial support to these orgs - not even the College Dems of America. We can’t expect young voters to turnout when we don’t invest in them - especially given the obstacles they face in voting.
