I seem to have become a serial sweet cereal snack-lover. First it was RKTs (Rice Krispies treats) and now it’s those delicious little cross-continental puff balls made with cornflakes. The ones known as Haystacks in America, and Roses des Sables, or desert roses, here in France. While they’re usually no-bake, I played around with the recipe a while ago and baked the roses to a crackly, glossy prettiness. The haystacks were tucked into a fold in my memory and popped out the other day when I saw them transformed into tartlets. So nice. Reminded of them and inspired, I’ve put recipes for both baked and unbaked versions in today’s newsletter. If you scoop the confection into a crust, LMK – xoxo Dorie
