My health coaching client was avoiding fruits because they spiked his CGM to 188.
After 3 weeks of switching to more proteins and substituting nuts for fruits his spikes were lower but not in a good way.
With the apples + bananas + mangos he was spiking to 188 but it came down to 80s in less than 1 hour.
With his new substitution he would only spike to 130s but stay above 105 for several hours.
The net effect was higher overall sugars but fewer spikes. I don’t recommend that tradeoff in most adults.
