The heart rate monitor that cost my patient 6 months of frustration and thousands of healthcare dollars.

Her wearable ring informed her that her heart rate was low.

She went to the ER and they kept her for 3 nights.

She was told she would need surgery and further testing.

She didn’t want surgery, and this went on for several months.

In the end, the doctors agreed that it was likely a false alarm. In fact, the cause was later discovered to be one of her medications.

She won’t get those 6 months back and now she’s perpetually anxious about something serious going on with her heart.

This doesn’t make wearable technology bad but they definitely come with a risk attached.
