I’ve noticed a near-hostile attitude among many college-educated, liberal/left-leaning people without kids when it comes to our responsibility toward the loved ones in our lives who are having babies. We sometimes talk about it as though it’s a personal offense to be expected to show up for a child we didn’t explicitly choose to have. But that isn’t what being part of a village is about. It never has been.
