A culture that teaches men that everything associated with the feminine—emotion, intuition, vulnerability, receptivity, the wisdom of the body—is inferior forces them to sever themselves from those very capacities within their own souls. It offers men a devil’s bargain—the promise of power, of standing above the feminine rather than in relationship with it. But the price of that bargain is enormous—the very aspects of their humanity that connect them to the deeper currents of life.
