• Cabanel was 24 years old when he painted it, and it is now housed at the Musée Fabre in Montpellier, France. 

• The painting is known for its depiction of Lucifer with a mix of anguish and defiant pride, with a single tear visible on his face. (Narcissists are not just highly angry. They’re simultaneously incredibly sad in equal proportion.)
