Analysis of a Bronze Age sword found in Nördlingen in 2023 has revealed that the decorative inlay on the octagonal grip was made from copper, demonstrating a previously unexpected level of metalworking sophistication in the region. The sword formed part of grave goods found with a man, woman, and child in a burial dating to around 3,400 years, located in the Swabian region of southern Germany.
