I'm 100% guilty of sh*tting on giveaways for growth.
But Aleyda's story proves they can work. Here's how she did it right.
Why have I sh*t on giveaways? They will 100% grow your newsletter list. They'll also 100% grow your list with the ๐๐๐๐๐ people.
Why?
Because I always see the same prizes:
โ Amazon Gift Card
โ Apple Macbook
โ New car (bigger brands do this)
These are all B2C prizes. They cater to the masses.
B2B newsletters don't want the masses.
Aleyda writes SEOFOMO. She wanted SEO experts to enter her giveaway.
Not a school teacher or finance bro.
So used the prizes for her giveaway as a filter โ only people in the SEO field would want her prizes.
She's run these giveaways a number of times. Once to reach 5k subscribers, and most recently to hit her 30k subscriber milestone.
It worked so well that she got 1.5k new, filtered (ie. ideal) subscribers in ~7 weeks.
