Woke up to some exciting news that Chinese Enough was nominated for an IACP Cookbook Award! I’m so honored!

It’s sort of surreal to see my book nominated in categories like “American” and “US Foodways” because as I write in the book, I never quite felt Chinese or American enough.

When my first cookbook, Mooncakes and Milk Bread, came out in 2021 I went to my local Barnes and Noble on pub date to see a copy on the shelves for the first time but was surprised to not find it in the Baking section. I asked an employee and they guided me to the International section instead. I was a little confused but the excitement of the day was still high. But I kept thinking about that moment as I wrote Chinese Enough.

I wanted to write a really good cookbook that allowed readers to feel seen and included to combat the constant feeling of being othered, that exemplified the nuances, joys, and sometimes difficulties of what it’s like being a Chinese American, child of immigrants with dreams, and simply a person who wants to create a life where they feel like they are enough.

That was always the goal, and to help you become a better cook of course! Again, I’m so honored and this feels special.
