Small family owned neighborhood spots that have been around for 30+ years that have zero ambitions of being trendy. On the Upper West Side where I live, that means Raku It’s Japanese 2, Saiguette, Fred’s, Manhattan Diner, Bombay Frankie Roti Roll and Health Nuts grocery store. In the 4 years I’ve lived uptown we’re already lost some real ones like Absolute Bagel, Silver Moon Bakery and Sun-Chan.
