I started a linocut today— for the first time since high school! I’ve been wanting to try it again for several years, and this drawing from one of my daily drawings seemed a good one to try. Of course, it’s wildly intricate and I only have the basic Soeedball set of cutting tools, but it feels exciting (and definitely challenging) to take this plunge into relief printing, and to adapt a pencil drawing into something quite different. 😊🤓

Ps- I learned of a brilliant way to transfer an image using an ink jet printer: you tape a piece of waxed paper onto a normal sheet, run it through the printer, and then place it gently face down on a piece of lino (or similar) that you’ve lightly sanded w fine grit, and burnish it with a spatula or similar. Let it dry completely, then start carving. Genius! I learned this trick from an artist on IG : @marlenesilveira
