Make money doing the work you believe in
This year’s days of the week and dates line up perfectly with 2009, when I spent part of every day of the year in Saint Louis’ Forest Park, exploring & documenting with photos and a blog. I’d like to share it with you.
Day 175 - Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Over the highway
Hot and dusty lies the highway that cuts through Forest Park. Scooped, gouged, rolled and scraped, it is being renewed day by day as St. Louisans find alternate routes and complain about the inconvenience. I don’t think it’s too bad, though it does add 15 to 20 minutes to any trip that I need to take to the east or west. I see the construction each day as I travel to Our Favorite Park, and find it quite fascinating. Dump trucks and mixers and backhoes, oh my!
Over on the other golf course (Forest Park has two), the one run by the Amateur Athletic Association, the work is coming along nicely. The layout is done, sod has been put on most of the course and the paths are nicely paved (Lightning McQueen couldn’t have done a better job). Chicory is cheering up the park wherever it waves its friendly flowers.
I stopped for ducks, and flowers and bees and to catch my breath (Austen and I rode our bikes this morning). The humidity held us in its warm embrace the entire time. Wanna see what I found?
