I know this has been discussed before, but I wonder what other writers feel about the idea of bundling: allowing consumers to buy paid subscriptions to 3 or 5 or 10 substacks at reduced rates, with the income shared between the writers.
This platform is a great model both for writers and readers, but a lot of people like to read a number of substacks and feel that they can’t afford the current system. The main reason against it, from what I’ve read, is to protect writers’ earnings, but unlike a Spotify system it might actually work out better for some medium-income writers.
Writers would have to opt in, and the very high earners wouldn’t feel the need to join, which is fine; there would need to be restrictions on how often you changed your bundle; and there might be issues about different prices between substacks. But it feels like something worth exploring.
