AGI = 100x builders? Bootstrapping Agents

AllHands, Crew and others have now started bootstrapping their Agentic Code Infrastructure using their code itself. The Agent writes code, fixes runtime bugs and sends in a pull request. Helps human review the request too.

It took many iterations of research to get here, but bootstrapping Agents will be common now. Reminds me of how compilers and OSes bootstrap themselves in a multi-layered fashion, leading to modular, faster development.

It may turn out that the most impactful use case of "AGI" is to implicitly boost the builder ecosystem, lowering barrier to entry and moving devs up the value chain. In turn, this accelerates the pace of innovation.

While building software is a significant cost, I'm not sure if it's the sole or even the largest cost in many cases. Software maintenance (bug fixes, updates, adapting) often exceeds the initial development cost over time. I don't hear much noise in that territory yet.

Similarly, upgrades, and operational infrastructure, are areas where AI has room to mature.
