I know I’m a little late to the “luxury beliefs” party but I just spent some time reading Rob Henderson and now I am convinced that “fed is best” is a perfect example. The upper class uses this slogan to virtue signal their inclusive mindset, meanwhile they have access to the education, support, paid leave, and workplace accommodations that make it possible for them to breastfeed for months or years, thereby reaping the very real and measurable health benefits for themselves and their infants, and working class mothers often have little choice but to return to work at 2, 3, 4 weeks and switch to formula because shit jobs aren’t particularly accommodating of breastfeeding mothers. Affordable childcare in the absence of paid leave will only exacerbate this. Wake up people.
