The app for independent voices

people who want to fight doomscrolling often attempt to it by deleting all social media altogether. they’ll force themselves to do something ‘productive’ when their mind craves to be switched off. i think approach sets us up for failure: it makes us dislike whatever activity we’ve chosen to engage in (we just don’t have the mental capacity for that atm!) and we’re soon back on instagram. if our mind craves 30 minutes of nothingness, we can concede that. i think it’ll be a lot more functional to doomscroll for 30 minutes at the end of which we can check in with ourselves and gently redirect our attention to other activities. intentionality is the only way we can break free from social media addiction.
