James Joyce is no doubt one of the most influential and groundbreaking writers in world literature. But did you know that he received more than 20 rejections from various publishers for Dubliners.

Year after year, his beloved book was rejected, sometimes ridiculed.

After 9 long years of trying, he finally received an offer from a small publishing house.

However, the offer came with a condition. He would not receive any royalties unless it sold 500 copies.

Joyce was so desperate he bought 120 copies himself.

That year in total the book sold 499 copies—1 short of “success”.

Remember, remember….
