A board of three county commissioners in Utah just voted unanimously to let untouched land be razed to build a 40,000 acre data center campus.
That’s the same area as about 40,000 football fields, or Manhattan plus Brooklyn combined.
They did so after receiving thousands of online complains against the data center, along with facing jeers from a crowd of hundreds who showed up to the meeting to voice their opposition.
40,000 acres of beautiful natural land, all demolished just so we can ask AI to make our grocery lists (which we could do perfectly competently ourselves before we had AI), spread misinformation on social media, and generate slop.
Don’t look away.
