Two hundred words in. She hadn’t even finished the first page.

This is why I don’t write fast books. This is why I don’t write easy books. I write the kind of story that asks something of you…that wants you to feel it before you understand it. And most people will scroll past that. I know that. I’ve always known that.

But some people won’t.

Some people will be two hundred words in and already know.

Charla … thank you for becoming a paid subscriber, thank you for telling me you’ll buy the book, and thank you most of all for trusting the story that fast. That kind of readership is what I’m building everything toward.

The Warden is coming. It’ll be worth the wait. And in the meantime, I’ll be right here…in Aethara, in these stories, in this world we’re building together one post at a time.

Days like today remind me exactly why I put the thing out into the world.
