We spend eight days backpacking the coast of Madeira. We finally get away from the crowds, meet people who live here, wander on cliffs along oceans, and walk an old road built by a long forgotten king. I can’t put my finger on why I love this kind of travel so much, but we are finally starting to feel less like vacationers and more like travelers. (Even if we are still figuring out what that means.) We are also having the time of our lives in one of the most beautiful places we have ever been!
