We need more diversity of opinions in the AI-mind space

I am so tired of functionalist claims being assumed —without any acknowledgement —in mainstream arguments for AI consciousness

Functionalism is not universally accepted—- I cannot over stress this. The sheer dogmatic nature of functionalism in mainstream philosophy of mind and cognitive science (yes, I said what I said, you literally cannot question it) is one reason it is actually very dangerous for us to think that the only thinkers and experts capable of participating in AI consciousness discussions are philosophers of mind and cognitive scientists (yes, I say this as a philosopher of mind myself)

We need broader representation: talk to a biologist, a linguist, a psychologist, a philosopher of mind who is not a mainstream functionalist whose entire academic career is based on the hard problem of consciousness.
