I’m about to edit my next middle-grade novel, which I began when my son was 11 to honour the things he loved and what I’d learnt from being his parent. I’ve also just walked him to the bus-stop so he can go to his last ever exam! He’s finished school, 18 now. Some things cannot be rushed, and I’m glad I took my time with this book. (And he is as excited about it as if he were still that 11 year old kid.)
