Wrote about Jony Ive’s new hardware designs for OpenAI.
I took a trip down memory lane this morning, and revisited this 1998 New York Times interview with Jonathan Ive (before he was Jony), where the idea of technology that draws on the human form is often repeated — the title of the story is that Ive is designing computers “cute enough to wear.” But the writer has far less skepticism around this idea than we do now. “Perhaps a computer that makes you feel that you want to hug it is in order?” wrote John Markoff, who has been covering tech for the Times for almost 30 years. Perhaps not.
