The app for independent voices

After a long day of cleaning and writing, i wanted musical comfort food, which led to ths. It is my favorite Moody Blues album. In fact, i think i said as much when i wrote about it a year or so ago. There is something heartening about how they entered the 80s recharged and relevant. The hits remind me of what ELO were doing around the same time. And they still sound great. But it is the deeper cuts I love most. In particular the ballads. Talking Out of Turn is my absolute favorite in their catalog. The surprise is how good Graeme Edge’s 22,000 Days is, a Floydian rock song about, well, time ticking away. It hits harder now. Only Ray seems a bit adrift here, which may be why they put his songs at the end. They almost form an EP that reminds you the long distance they traveled.
