The app for independent voices

Julien Baker’s Sprained Ankle arrived in my life at the end of a transitional year. It gave voice to thoughts and self regard that i had not only at the time but often through life. It was described as depressing by reviewers, but it was relatable. Familiar. A mirror through which to analyze all the fears and shortcomings i held. In particular Everybody Does. I know those sentiments all too well. And that it why it played like catharsis. And why now it feels like looking at old photos with recognition of how much I have changed. I don’t think she has made an album so vital since, but it may be that i am not who i was when I needed this.
