So, today’s poem. The context you need is Abby Schleifer who is crushing it daily with her paint-chip poems. I took the breadcrumbs and made this..
I am a deep dark wood
a thing covered in nettles
or endless dandelions
that choke out the beauty
i ache to be
let Neptune have
the bones of my old
life and let me emerge
from nightmares to be
something new, a moon
that regains its fulsome glow
or a mossy cavern for you
to slip inside and see
me for who I am
if not who i ache
to be.
