I think I settled on my next essay. It will be an Emm’s Gems about a singer-songwriter who may have been just a bit ahead of the game in the early 70s with candid, vulnerable songs that anticipated our era of pop music overshare. And yet, her melodies are luminous and her lyrics are poetic (often knowing), maybe still shocking in their candor. She has never really gotten her due, but I know, based on this, a few of you know who I am talking about and will agree. She was a formidable talent. I’m a couple of pages into it, and it will drop at least by next Sunday.
